Shamanic Clowning

with Nicolas Cambas / Winter Edition

„In many shamanic societies, if you came to a shaman or medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence? Where we have stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experienced the loss of soul. Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves“ ― Gabrielle Roth

The origin of what we now call Clown is traceable in almost any ancient tribal society, including western civilization. The fool, contrary, sacred clown, are characters related to an archetype called Trickster which is part of human psyche. This archetype turns reality upside down through transformative playfulness opening new paths of existence for ourselves. Those who dance to the beat of their own hearts have always been there to remind us that living an ordinary life is a very risky choice. Not listening to our own song can have deep consequences in our journey through life.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide concrete tools that can empower us to creatively shift perspectives and attitudes towards life and relationships. And we do it PLAYING, through an energetic physical training that combines clowning with practical shamanism among other things.

The workshop consists of a complete weekend immersion in St. Andrä-Wördern. Accommodation is arranged within the locals for those coming from other places. We invite you to bring some food to share in the pauses

You don’t need any previous experience, neither being interested in being a clown or an artist. This work is for every-body.
